The Primary Election is held 11 weeks before the General Election for purposes of nominating party nominees to be voted for in the General Election to fill a national, state, county, or district office. A General Election is held in November of every even-numbered year. Nonpartisan judicial and school board candidates are placed on the primary election ballot. Any school board candidate winning a majority of votes in the first election is elected; if no candidate for school board wins a majority, then the top two winners are placed on the general election ballot for a runoff. Judicial candidates are placed on the primary ballot.
